Managed by Joe Delaney, the brand experienced massive growth in sales and notoriety with major product launches such as the Black Magick series, pedals and guitars. In 2017, Supro entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Jam Industries to market the brand in North America. Zinky was retained by Absara as design engineer, collaborating with the company on the modern designs of Supro amps. To help its expansion, Absara built a new production facility in Port Jefferson Station, New York, starting with a vintage line of US-made Supro tube amps. Zinky had owned the brand during many years, designing amplifiers for Fender. The rights to Brand were bought from its previous owner, Bruce Zinky. Rights to the Supro name were acquired by Absara Audio, parent company of effects units manufacturer Pigtronix. The brand was revived in 2013, having reintroduced a line of vintage guitars and amplifiers since then. Supro amps built from the 1930s to the 1950s were regarded for their sound for rock records. Supro was also a premium brand of amplifiers, being also the first to produce a combo amp with reverb. Valco was notorious for manufacturing its guitars with components (especially bodies) provided by other manufacturers. So, I can't explain why your guitar's neck and headstock are not painted like other Valco products, but the guitar has details to indicate that it is all vintage.Supro was basically the budget brand of companies such as National (then merged with Dobro to form "National Dobro") and later, Valco, which would take over those brands. Hold the phone-I just found a match for your guitar's bridge (also note the slotted binding on this model): It has roller saddles, which isn't odd, but it does have a lever-actuated string mute, which is. The bridge on your guitar is interesting, and I haven't yet found a match. From what I can see, your fretboard is made in the same way. On that red "JB Hutto" guitar I linked you can see that the fretboard binding was cut during the process of cutting the fret slots (which is an unusual way of doing it). The tuning-machines on that Lexington seem to be the same as your guitar. Also, the guitar (the "Lexington") in that article has the same headstock shape, nut and string retainer as your guitar. You don't see these on modern reproductions of these guitars. Those pickup surrounds can also be seen on this vintage model 2P: You'll see that they are unusual in that there are no screws evident in those pickup bezels. Note the pickup surrounds (aka: bezel) on that Supro, and then look at your guitar's. Let me point out some of these details by first showing you an interesting article on a Supro-branded guitar: I'm not a huge expert on the guitars made by Valco, and branded in various ways:īut in studying your guitar and doing some research, I see many details that indicate that it is some sort of vintage (1960's?) Valco product. I wouldn't be too quick to assume anything about your rather interesting guitar. There are other subreddits to look for gear and to sell it, one of which you will find below.

SUPRO AIRLINE GUITAR MODS
Don't like something about the sub? Message the mods and we'll see what we can do, even if it is just something as simple as a button being a colour you don't like.ĭon't hate on other players' gear. If you are unsure if a post you are about to make is against the rules, message the mods and we will help you out. I believe they were marketed to guitar players who wanted to be able to take a fill in bass gig, or play guitar and bass. Cool little bass with a really fat, almost upright sound. Posting multiple videos from your own YouTube channel (or a friends) to promote it is not allowed. Heres my Airline that a friend grabbed for me at a pawn shop for 75. Posting music videos or gear demos is alright as long as it is for the purpose of discussing the video, such as asking about gear used by a guitarist, asking about gear being demoed, etc. The downvote button is not a disagreement button, its for getting rid of irrelevant, rude or other posts that don't add anything relevant to the sub.

We are all different and we all like different things such as guitar brands or amp brands.ĭon't downvote people for asking questions or asking for advice.
